Approximately 20,000 National Guard Members Stationed Around DC: Officials

Local and federal security officials have said that around 20,000 National Guard members will be deployed in Washington D.C. for Inauguration Day on Jan. 20. “I think you can expect to see somewhere upwards of beyond 20,000 members of the National Guard that will be here in the footprint of the District of Columbia,” Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee said on Wednesday. Officials previously stated that about 15,000 National Guard members were sent to the District of Columbia for the event.
