Swalwell Returning to Homeland Committee as AOC Named to Financial Services Committee

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) is returning to the House Homeland Security Committee despite concerns about his links to a purported Chinese spy, while rising Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) will be a member of the House Financial Services Committee, it was announced Thursday. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced a slew of new appointments, including Swalwell and Reps. Al Green (D-Texas) and Elaine Luria (D-Va.) to the Homeland Security Committee. Ocasio-Cortez, known as AOC, will serve on the Financial Services Committee along with Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), a fellow member of the so-called “Squad.” The grouping is of so-called Democratic socialists who are attempting to shift the Democratic Party further to the left.
